August 2006

August is the busiest month of the year for yachts on
the Riviera but two yachts stood out on this site.
Firstly, Maltese Falcon, launched this
year, a Gerard Dijsktra & Ken Freivokh
Perini Navi sailing boat that is a certainly
design masterpiece. Secondly, Dubai, the largest yacht in the
world, photos of which were taken in Dubai and
sent in by guest photographer David Nichols.
Callisto and April Fool the smart new 60+ metre Feadships were also wonderful additions to the site. So too were Moneikos, the new 62 m build from Codecasa, and Iliki VIII launched last year.
A selection of Feadships visited local waters. New photos of Huntress, Sea Jewel, Inevitable, Sanora, Teleost, Montigne, Noa VII, Dream Seeker, Halcyon Days, Never Enough, Celine Ashley, Sussurro, Avanté IV were added while Double Haven continued her tour of NE Canada.
Most of the ISA 470 series were also seen, with new photos of recent launches Axioma and Kolaha. A selection of Akhirs were added including Element, taken by Tatiana Hughes, who sent in a whole selection of great photos. A few new photos of Bagliettos were sent in including the innovative Blue Ice submitted by Theo van der Veen. They threw away the rule book when they designed that one. Many thanks to all contributors as always.
A number of yachts with a Middle Eastern air were out and about including Prince Abdulaziz, one of the largest in the world, Al Diriyah, Tueq, Ultima III, Nourah of Riyadh, Qatar, Iman, Sahab IV, Alwaeli and Jameel. All these can be found in the Alphabetical Index - the most comprehensive index on the site.
More entrants for the 2006 Monaco Yacht Show, less than two weeks away, were added to the special section on this site, including the new Moonen My Issue, two Custom Line CRNs, sailing boat YII, the new Heesen G Force, Happy Hour, Lady Feryal, Tongue, Tango and Open Season.
Other August additions to the site include Zurbagan, Victoria del Mar, Mystère CI, Lady Candida, Lady Anastasia, Bliss, Aqua Librium, Tigre d'Or, Alcyone, Le Kir Royal, Red Dragon, Galaxia, Serenity, Blue Harem, Kijo, Tacanuya, Stavros S Niarchos, Star Ship, Lola D, Is a Rose, Moonlight, Savvy, Big Aron, Cleopatra, Darnice III, Applause, Bakhshish, Talon, Taipan, Boadicea, Northern Star, Monte Carlo, Texas, Excellence III, Adela, Cotton Blossom II, Dag, Gitana, Kimberly II, Unplugged and Aviva II.
Since it’s taken so long to write this recap I can also report that Al Mirqab is now called Indian Empress and that Anders Linden has just sent in fantastic photos of the new Devonport Samar, as well as great shots of the royal visit of Norge to Sweden last year.
Finally, a new quay was added to the port construction area and if you missed the Women's Jet Ski Championship check these photos out !
