September & October 2006

September was of course dominated by the 2006 Monaco Yacht
Show. I think I took photos of pretty well
all the yachts in the show and most of them can
be found in the MYS 2006 album. A few somehow
didn't get processed in time but are on the site
- eventually I'll get them all included in one
album.
There seemed to be a lot of new builds, and a good deal of new faces. The Delta Marine built Laurel, was the biggest of the show at 73 metres, and Happy Days, 50 m, was also seen. Both are attractive well-proportioned builds. Ambrosia III and Oasis were already familiar but Blue Scorpion was new - Baglietto's biggest build to date at 53 metres. Annamia, another large new build from Baglietto was also seen briefly at the start of the show. Other new builds included Princess Iolanthe from Mondomarine, Tuscan Sun from Izar, Mirgab V from Burger Boat, Metsuyan IV from CBI Navi and Arcadia a distinguished new yacht from Royal Huisman.
You can browse them all on the MYS index page.
Following hot on the heels of the Yacht Show in October was Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, a series of regattas with a strong classic component in nearby St Tropez. I uploaded some shots to this album but many more entries are still to be posted.
